As I make my way into adulthood, here are some of the stuff I purchased in the last year that I consider my list of "big purchases" as a twenty-two year old. For context, I graduated from Uni last June of 2023 and spent the past year self-studying and reviewing for my board exams. Now that I'm done with my boards, I am on a hunt in searching for a job in my field. I am able to afford these stuff because of credit and I pay it off with my savings and with my passive source of "income" my art/gift shop. Without further ado, here are the stuff I consider my first "big purchases" as a young adult!
adidas Continental 80 (6,500 PHP) If everyone dreams about owning a pair of Nike's Air Force 1's, then this IS my equivalent to that. I fancy continental 80s for years but somehow I rarely see them in-stores. or maybe because I don't like going to shoe stores that's why I originally wanted the red and black stripes but the color combo is too common. When I stumbled upon this pair, (and it was on sale!) I decided to grab it before it got sold out. I remember feeling anxious waiting for my board exam results and thought I studied for six months and did my best for my boards. Whatever the result, I deserve this pair. Win or Lose. Happy to report that I did won and got my license! Anywho, I love the style and it gives off air force-style but not-air force aura. I also don't see much people sporting this pair and I love that --at least with what I saw. I tend to gravitate with products that aren't overly hyped like the adidas sambas where almost everyone has a pair.
adidas Lifestyle Lite Racer 3.0 (2,800 PHP) My family started hosting weekend jogs and my work out shoes from adidas have shown some signs of worn out. I decided to purchase a pair of lifestyle lite racer 3.0 in white for the weekend jogs. From what I've researched, the Lifestyle Lite Racer line from adidas is a fusion of both running and lifestyle where you can use your pair for casual day-to-day activities providing comfort like running shoes offer. Now if you're someone who likes to do intense work-out or regularly run, this is not the best pair for you. I chose this pair because I do not really jog, I walk for a few rounds and done! I just wanted a pair of rubbers that I can wear to morning exercise with ease and I could also use for my day-to-day errands. And I got it in white because it matches with everything.
Fjallraven Kanken Classic - Ochre (6,595 PHP) Okay, can we pretend its 2017 and art hoe aesthetic was ALL over pinterest?! With the ikea floral bedding, baby blue walls filled with drawings and pressed flowers; and of course, the star of the show, a yellow ochre kanken. Again, this is the DREAM bag I have loved and dying to get my hands of for years. Back then, kankens aren't as accessible as today from where I live. Shops only have limited colors available and mostly likely the yellow ochre classic kanken is not available or out of stock. This is my second pair of kanken and I am in LOVE. I find that bright colors can be hard to mix and match but you guys, I just have to get one myself. I had to do it for my 16-year-old self. haha! So happy that kankens are waaaaaaaaaay more accessible now than it is then. In fact I'm planning to get a mini kanken but still debating for what color. Any suggestions?
Casio LTP-VT01GL-9BUDF Analog Watch (2,510 PHP) Smart watches may come in handy but I personally don't like the look of it plus, I don't really like the thought that everything in my life is connected to any form of bluetooth-or-wifi-mobile data thingy (or I'm just paranoid I'm out and my smart watch ran out of battery and I do not have any way to charge it). So with watches, I see myself gravitating with analog watches. I got this one from Casio with a brown leather strap and honestly I couldn't believe its price. It's a timeless style with gold hardware that goes with any outfit.
